Loft in Saint-ouen

Anouchka and Laurent Collin have turned this unusual building, once a hangar for firetrucks, in a 300 m2 modern loft. The big building with well-kept metal and wooden designs, six-meter high-ceilings had a fantastic potential. The re-arrangement of the house actually started from scratch, having left only walls and the most characteristic elements of the original design. Studying the history of the building, Anouchka learned that it consists of two parts, one of which, with wooden overlappings, dated 1906, and the second — with metal — is a reconstruction from year 1936. These two styles give the structure its individuality.
Most of the furnitures and decorative objects are antiques. In the living room, a XVIII century indian door has been turned into an original coffee table. Great work...

My Backyard!

We have had such a crazy week trying to finish things off before the Easter break! I'm sharing a snippet of my new paving that was completed last week in my backyard. As you can see, I still have a lot of work to do...maybe adding some big pots with flowers to bring some colour into the garden. I also need some new outdoor furniture but good things come to those who wait! I'm so pleased with the job our pavers did laying the random sandstone. It has made such a huge difference to the yard as our old paving was a dark reddish brown clay paver so it's now so much lighter now. Well enough about me, hope everyone has a wonderful Easter break...Hayley is off overseas again, sourcing some wonderful things for Porchlight clients and I will be holding down the forte here! Chateau de Buno

Chateau de Buno is nestled in the lush green of the Gâtinais Nature Park, only 12 miles from Fontainebleau. It's a green oasis of tranquility, close to nature and with a wealth of rivers, marshes and forests. Discovered two great new blogs tonight (well new to me anyway)! The first one is Secrets of Domestic Bliss which is very stylish and fun and which led me to the second discovery - Table Tonic which is linked to an online shop, selling the gorgeous cushions that are pictured! The most exciting part of this discovery is that she is Sydney based! Don't you just love the green zig-zag cushions!

Just been looking on the Cool Hunter website which I love to look through now and then for some out there ideas and was really drawn to this Amsterdam architect Uxus Design who was the designer behind this amazing winery Merus Winery in the Napa Valley in California.

I love the use of odd chairs giving it a quirky feel. Very simple and stunning!

This tasting room is amazing with the wired pendant lights grouped into three and the Tolix chairs assembled neatly in the centre of the room

It's like being in a cave.

Wondering what to do in the wee small hours of the morning so I thought i would share some more pics from our gorgeous little trip to Paris. I have been very selective not to include any of myself in my thick layers of black clothing or the other 2 girls as they made me vow not to do so. I can only say that 3 woman together in Paris, What a ball!!

The interior design of brazilian architect Andre Piva's house have been predetermined by the wonderful surroundings. Huge windows along the perimeter of the house open onto a magnificent view of Rio de Janeiro, a wide bay and the Corcovado Mountain. Inside, stone, glass and iron have mainly been used. Leather and wood add coziness to the interior. Andre's passion for chairs is obvious: there are plenty of them in the house. The prevailing tone of black and white range is enhanced by contrast colored spots. Artistic atmosphere is reinforced by the many paintings in modern style.

Another Crazy Week!

We haven't stopped since we returned from our trip so I must appologise for our lack of posts once again! We went to Sydney for the day on Wednesday for Design & Decoration and went and listened to Kathryn Ireland's seminar which was fantastic. She is such an inspiring speaker and we went afterwards to meet her and get a signed copy of her latest book...I just love it! I have already found a spot for it in my cabinet!

After we finished up at the trade fair, we headed over to look at some of our favourite stores in Woollahra, including the Donna Hay General Store, where I picked up a couple of gorgeous green milk glass cake stands...I couldn't resist them! As you can see, I have a matching mixing bowl which my mum gave me a couple of years ago! Hopefully we will have more time for posts in the next week! Happy weekend! Tracey xx

Just thought I would share some snapshots of my favourite moments in Paris!

We stumbled across this fashion show setup while we doing the Paris Markets and I just loved the green pot with flowers centre piece! There are so many green accents around Paris so I was in heaven!
This was the church at the top of Montmarte which was just gorgeous inside and out! While we were up here it started to snow which was so beautiful!

A snapshot of the Paris Markets...so many gorgeous things to see! I had to buy an old copper saucepan which will have pride of place in my new kitchen (only 1 month to wait)!

Here are a few pics from Maison et Objet (this was afterall the reason for our trip to Paris). This was from the Dedar stand - the chair was absolutely stunning!

Of course the Designers Guild stand was beautiful with all of the fresh colours!
